Une actrice et un acteur, face à face, se demandent pourquoi ils ont donné toute leur énergie au théâtre. Leurs esprits, chaque cellule de leurs corps, sont remplis de mémoires et de questions. Ils charrient en eux des interrogations sans fin.
Artaud, Craig, Stanislavski, Meyerhold, Zeami – le grand maître du Nô japonais – Charles Dullin… ces personnages ne les quittent jamais. Les questions posées par ces hommes courageux qui au début du vingtième siècle ont révolutionné le théâtre sont devenues, avec le temps, de plus en plus urgentes, de plus en plus vivantes. Chacun, à sa manière, a dû, encore et encore, faire face à cette question essentielle :
« A quoi ai-je consacré ma vie ? Pourquoi ? Why? ».
Kathryn Hunter et Marcello Magni vont incarner, avec toute leur expérience du théâtre, cette question qui brûle : « Why? ».

An actress and an actor, facing one another, ask themselves « why did we give all our energy to Theatre ? » Their minds, every cell of their bodies, are full of memories and questions. They carry in themselves endless interrogations.
Artaud, Craig, Stanislavski, Meyerhold, Zeami – the great master of Noh – Charles Dullin …. These great figures never leave them. The questions that these courageous men, who, at the begining of the 20th century, radically changed the theatre, became with time more and more pertinent.
Each one of them had to face, again and again, the essential question : « To what have I given my life ?»
Kathryn Hunter and Marcello Magni will embody, with all their skills, this burning question – « Why? ».
